How it works
Three steps to your personalised superannuation projection
Our super calculator defaults to the same ASIC-compliant assumptions as the MoneySmart retirement planner — and you can customise them to match your situation.
Pop in your details
Age, salary, super balance, employer contribution rate. Add your partner, model career breaks, or throw in salary sacrifice amounts for an even sharper picture.
See your super projection
Our super projection calculator crunches the numbers — the 12% Superannuation Guarantee, investment returns, fees, contributions tax, inflation, and more. Adjust the assumptions and model different scenarios on the spot.
Know where you stand
See how long your super could last, whether you could qualify for the Age Pension, and what your total retirement income could look like. Then find out exactly what you can do to improve it.
WHY OTIVO
Not your average super calculator
Otivo's superannuation retirement calculator gives you the complete picture — and actually helps you do something about it.
Superannuation projection calculator
See your super balance grow year by year, right up to retirement. We factor in the Superannuation Guarantee, salary growth, investment returns, fees, and contributions tax — the way a financial adviser would model it.
How long will my super last?
The question that keeps Aussies up at night — answered. Our retirement income calculator models your drawdown year by year so you can see exactly when your super might run out, and what to do before it does.
Age Pension? We've got that covered
We include a full Age Pension means-test estimate — assets test, income test, singles, couples, homeowners, renters — so you see your real total retirement income, not just a super balance.
Transition to retirement modelling
Hit your preservation age? Model how a transition to retirement strategy could let you wind down hours, top up super with salary sacrifice, and pay less tax — all in the same calculator.
Salary sacrifice & contribution strategies
See the real difference extra contributions make. Model salary sacrifice (concessional cap: $30,000 p.a.), after-tax contributions ($120,000 cap), and lump sums. Small changes now = massive differences later.

Everything you need to know about superannuation calculators in Australia
"What will my super be when I retire?" — it's the question every Aussie eventually asks. And the honest answer is: it depends. Your balance, your salary, your employer contributions, your returns, your fees, and your timeline all play a role.
Otivo's superannuation retirement calculator accounts for all of it. You get a personalised superannuation projection built on the same ASIC-compliant assumptions trusted by Colonial First State and other major super funds — completely free.
And here's what makes Otivo special — we show you your full retirement income from super, investments, and the Age Pension — and how long it could last. Because knowing your balance is one thing. Knowing if it's enough is what matters.
What will my super be when I retire?
Your retirement balance comes down to five things: your current super balance, employer contributions (12% under the Superannuation Guarantee), investment returns (we default to 7.5% p.a., per ASIC's MoneySmart assumptions), fees and taxes, and any voluntary contributions you make.
Our super projection calculator models all of it year by year — adjusting for wage inflation (3.7%), contribution caps, and the maximum super contribution base — in today's dollars.
Quick example: a 35-year-old on $85k with $65k in super could have roughly $486,000 by age 67 without doing anything extra. Add $5,000 a year in salary sacrifice and that jumps to over $590,000. That's the power of acting now.
How long will my super last in retirement?
Your balance at retirement is only half the story. Our retirement income calculator models your drawdown phase year by year — applying minimum pension drawdown rates, factoring in your target income and investment returns (default 6.5% p.a.), and deducting fees along the way.
If your super runs out before age 90, we'll show you exactly when — and we'll factor in the Age Pension as your safety net if you qualify.
The goal isn't to worry you. It's to give you time to act while you still can.
How much super do I need to retire comfortably in Australia?
The ASFA Retirement Standard puts a comfortable retirement at around $595,000 for a single and $690,000 for a couple (today's dollars, assuming home ownership). A modest retirement sits around $100,000 — but that leans more heavily on the Age Pension.
The thing is, these are averages. Your number depends on your lifestyle, health, housing situation, and other income sources. Use our superannuation retirement calculator to find your actual figure — then create a free account to get a plan to reach it.
How to pump up your super before retirement
Salary sacrifice into super: concessional contributions are taxed at just 15% inside super — well below most people's marginal rate. The concessional cap is $30,000 a year (including employer contributions). Model the impact in our super calculator and see the difference it makes to your retirement.
After-tax contributions: up to $120,000 a year from take-home pay, or $360,000 under the 3-year bring-forward rule. Earning under $60,400? You could score a government co-contribution of up to $500.
Transition to retirement: from preservation age (55–60), you can draw an income stream from super while still working. Pair it with salary sacrifice to grow your balance and cut your tax bill at the same time.
Consolidate your super: rolling multiple super accounts into one fund can save you thousands in duplicate fees and insurance premiums. Otivo can help you find and consolidate lost super too.
